Legend Brewing Comoany, Richmond, VA
You’ve followed Bill Lohmann and Bob Brown’s travels across Virginia, and now it’s time to celebrate their dedication to telling the stories of the unique places and people that they’ve encountered along the way.
Join us for a pint of Back Roads Black Lager and get a sneak peek at a new documentary highlighting their travels, “Back Roads: People, Places and Pie Around Virginia.”
The film premieres on WCVE PBS on Thursday, March 28, and you’re invited to preview the film and share a toast with Bill and Bob the evening before.
We’ve partnered with Legend Brewing Company to bring you Back Roads Black Lager - a small batch Schwarzbier-style beer never before brewed at Legend. We’ll tap those kegs at the Back Roads (beer and) Celebration on Wednesday, March 27. The gathering begins at 5:30 p.m., with the documentary preview starting at 6:30 p.m.
For the evening, Legend will feature more than one dish on their menu topped with gravy, and pie for dessert – gravy, pie and beer are the only fitting ways to celebrate Bill and Bob’s long-time Back Roads collaboration.
The event is free to attend, and all are welcome. Bring your appetite for pie, your love of a good beer, and your curiosity about traveling and enjoying Virginia’s back roads.
ABOUT THE BEER
Back Roads Black Lager is a Schwarzbier-style beer that brewmaster John Wampler describes as “very dark, yet immensely drinkable, with a medium body and just a hint of roastyness.”
We’ve tasted a sample and couldn’t agree more. We’re looking forward to tapping a keg of this small batch and sharing it with friends.
Back Roads Black Lager will be available on tap and for purchase in 32-oz. crowlers at Legend Brewing Company in downtown Richmond.
ABOUT THE FILM

The documentary premieres on WCVE PBS Richmond, WHTJ Charlottesville and WVPT Harrisonburg at 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 28.
